2) UTCA has extended our network to Mckinsey Business Technology Office (BTO) at Hong Kong. They are interested in accepting resumes of UTCA members with the following qualifications:

- 4th year undergraduate student in Engineering or Computer Science OR last year as a graduate student
- Good record of academic achievements, standardized scores if applicable, especially for Masters students (GMAT, LSAT, GRE etc.)
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in: consulting, technology company, or in a technical role in a non-technology company (ex: software developer at RBC).
- Passion for technology
- Desire to start career in Asia (Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, India etc.). For any selected country, fluency in local language (ex: Mandarin in China/HK, Cantonese is a plus in HK etc.)

3) Nspire – National Business and Technology Conference Case Competition Chair Message:

4) Rotman Commerce – EnVision Conference 2012 
Rotman Commerce Students’ Association is proud to present its signature academic event, the 2012 enVision Conference. On Friday February 10th to Saturday February 11th, 2012, the enVision Conference will take place at the historic venue of One King West located in Canada’s business centre. [Updated Dec.13] UTCA Case Competition 2012, Application Closed.

Event Description:

Registration for the long-awaited 2012 UTCA Business Case Competition is now open! Apply for an opportunity to demonstrate your analytical skills, network with consulting professionals, and win cash prize; and give your second semester a smart start!

This year’s competition is a one-day event on January 14, 2012. If you are one of the 16 successfully admitted teams, you will be given three days to solve a business case selected form the Harvard Business Review and the chance to present your solutions to a panel of judges from Deloitte, Mckinsey, BCG, AT Kearney, and others. Top 3 winners will receive cash prize.

[UPDATE!] UTCA created a form to help individuals who are looking for teammates. Please access here and use it for team forming purposes.

Note: You have agreed to share your contact information to any individual who uses the form and you will be responsible for contacting potential teammates.  

Timeline:

Application Open: Monday, December 8th, 2011

Application Close: Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Event Date: Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Application Process:

1. Join the Universityof Toronto Consulting Association at http://utconsulting.ca/join/

2. Download the full promotion package here and Read the rules of the competition here

3. Create a team of 4 current University of Toronto undergraduate students (full-time or part-time, including PEY students). Students from all 3 University of Toronto campuses and any majors are invited to participate.

4. Download the application form here

5. Send the application to info@utconsulting.ca with title “Case Comp Application” by midnight 12 am(EST),Wednesday December 21st, 2011

For selected teams: 

1. Pay registration fee of $60 (per team) to secure your position by cash  or cheque made payable to “University of Toronto Consulting Association” at the Case Prep Session on January 9th, 2011.

2. Attend the Case Prep Session on January 9, 2012

3. Attend Case Competition onJanuary 14, 2010.

Gain Insight from McKinsey: Firm Visit

Location: McKinsey Office, 110 Charles St W
Participants: Both undergraduate and graduate students in non-graduating years are encouraged to apply.

The University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is excited to announce the first Firm Visit of the year. As a part of our joint partnership with McKinsey & Company our members will have the opportunity to visit their offices located at Charles Street in Downtown Toronto, right by University of Toronto.
 

This is an amazing opportunity for non-graduating students who are interested in pursuing a career in consulting to meet recruiters and ask questions before submitting resumes for internship recruitment.

Only a select number of students will be able to attend the session as spaces are limited. If you are interested in consulting and are considering applying to McKinsey in the upcoming recruitment season, please complete the following instructions:

1) Send a copy of your 1 page resume in .pdf file to cn_recruiting@mckinsey.com, copy (CC) info@utconsulting.ca.  CGPA must be included in your resume. A statement of interest is optional.

2) Title the email as “Application for McKinsey Visit_ First Name_Last Name”

Deadline for applications is Monday, November 28th, 5pm EST. All emails are date and time stamped electronically.

[NEW] Blog Series: Ask a consultant from …

University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is launching its new blog, featuring a series of interviews with consultants from top-notch consulting firms. In our very first entry, a Recruiting Director/Engagement Manager from McKinsey will be answering questions including those YOU want to ask but did not have a chance to do so!

To participate, please send the list of your questions to info@utconsulting.ca with subject “your name_blog interview question” by Friday, December 9th. Please also indicate in the email your level of studies (undergrad, graduate).

Note: UTCA retains all rights to select, modify, and defer any question to be used in the interview.  All questions remain anonymous and we will try our best to get your questions answered!
