UTCA Executive Recruitment 2010-2011


Application Deadline: Friday, March 26, 2010 at 5 pm EST

The University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is looking for new executives for the 2010-2011 school year! We are seeking dynamic and committed individuals with an interest in management consulting.

UTCA has organized case competitions, consulting workshops, firm visits, and case interview seminars, and a Volunteer Consulting Group with all of the world's leading consulting companies.

Participants have included: Accenture, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman, Monitor Group, ZS Associates, and more!

To apply for an executive position:

Step 1: Download and complete the following application form

Step 2: Submit the application form and your most recent resume (PDF or Word) to [email protected] with the subject: 'FirstName_LastName'

Applications are due Friday, March 26, 2010 at 5pm EST. Interviews will be conducted Saturday, April 3, 2010. If April 3 is an issue please indicate this in your email with a reason.

Positions Available are:

1. VP Professional Events (1 position)

  • Manages and acts as liaison between UTCA and consulting firms
  • Assists in developing the sponsorship package
  • Organizes professional workshops, seminars, and speaker events for members
  • Obtains sponsorship for UTCA

  • 2. VP Internal (1 position)

  • Director for the annual Business Case Competition
  • Manages all emails directed to the UTCA
  • Works with the VP Professional Events to co-ordinate on campus events (such as room & AV rental bookings)

  • 3. VP Graduate Studies (1 position)

  • Must be a graduate student for the 2010 - 2011 academic year
  • Responsible for promoting UTCA to graduate students
  • Acts as a liaison to other graduate student organizations
  • Represents needs and interests of graduate students when planning UTCA events

  • 4. VP Marketing - Engineering (1 position)

  • Manages all marketing campaigns including: posters, email, website material, attending campus events, booths, brochures, and supplemental marketing materials
  • Responsible for member turnout at UTCA events
  • Coordinates Club's Day Fair for UTCA in September
  • Works with other organizations to promote UTCA

  • 5. VP Volunteer Consulting Group (1 position)

    This role is a 2-year commitment. The first year will be to become familiar with the role and learn from the current VP Volunteer Consulting Group.

  • Liaison with charitable organizations to establish projects
  • Liaison with consulting firms to recruit Subject Matter Experts and Case Team Advisors
  • Responsible for selection of case team members
  • Past projects include work for: ideaNation, Cottage Dreams, the Gatehouse, DOC, Tides Canada, Youth Without Shelter, Vaughan Youth Cabinet, rabble.ca and other established charities
  • Opportunity to gain consulting experience while contributing to community development

  • 6. VP Finance (1 position)

  • Manages the UTCA budget
  • Prepares monthly budget summary reports
  • Develops sponsorship package for consulting firms
  • Prepares Year-End financial statements for the Annual Report
  • Coordinates budget planning and ensures that all costs are within the budget set out for the year

The firm visit will be taking place on Thursday evening, September 24th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

This is an amazing opportunity for graduating students who are interested in pursuing a career in consulting to meet current BCG consultants to learn more about the type of work that the firm does and ask questions before submitting resumes for full time recruitment.

Business Case Competition 2009 Results and Pictures!


After a busy day of presentations and events, the UTCA Business Case Competition 2009 has drawn to a successful end! UTCA Case Competition 2009

Want a chance to tackle real consulting cases, develop creative strategies, and then show off your talents to representatives from top consulting firms? The 2009 UTCA Case Competition offers you the valuable experience to prove to yourself and our panel of judges from the world's top management consulting firms that you have what it takes to become a successful consultant! How it works: Your team will be presented with a business case that deals with current issues. You and your teammates will then have three days to brainstorm, research and develop key strategies to solve the given business problem. Your team will then prepare and present your framework to a panel of industry professionals. UTCA will provide a mandatory workshop to be held prior to the case competition to give you hints on how to steer your way to a successful and impressive presentation!

Grand Prizes include:
1st Place Team - $200
2nd Place Team - $150
3rd Place Team - $100

Mock Case Interview Sessions with Deloitte Consulting


APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 7TH
UTCA and Deloitte are organizing a Mock Interview event on the afternoon of Friday September 12. The purpose of this event is to give you a chance to practice a real consulting case in a "real" interview environment.
